It’s hard to say you’re sorry, but Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson did just that last night. People on both sides of the aisle agree a joke Davidson made on last week’s show not only fell flat but was in extremely bad taste. Davidson made fun of Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) for an injury he received in Afghanistan. The comedian said I know “he lost his eye in war or whatever.”
Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended. That being said, I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes.

This week SNL did recognize it was wrong, Davidson remarked:
“I mean this from the bottom of my heart. It was a poor choice of words. The man is a war hero and he deserves all of the respect in the world. And if any good came of this, maybe it was that for one day the left and the right finally came together to agree on something. That I’m a dick.”
He then brought Crenshaw on the show to deliver his own jabs at Davidson and as with Veteran’s Day here, he also took a moment to pay tribute to those who fight for our country and make the ultimate sacrifice. He also mentioned Davidson’s father, a firefighter who died on 9/11.
