Ukrainian President Zelensky has again appealed for peace. In an address he taped outside he also hinted that the Russian military losses were significant.

“I want everyone to hear me now, especially in Moscow. The time has come for a meeting, it is time to talk,” Zelensky said, according to Reuters.

“The time has come to restore territorial integrity and justice for Ukraine. Otherwise, Russia’s losses will be such that it will take you several generations to recover,” he added.

Zelensky added Zelensky Russian President Vladimir Putin is deliberately creating “a humanitarian catastrophe.”

Meanwhile, the New York Times reports, according to a Turkish official, Vladimir Putin is not ready for talks.

“Zelensky is ready to meet, but Putin thinks that the positions to have this meeting at the leaders’ level are not close enough yet,” Ibrahim Kalin, a chief adviser and spokesman for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, said in an interview.

Turkey and Mr. Erdogan are playing a significant mediating role between Russia and Ukraine, trying to find a path toward a longer-term cease-fire and serious negotiations on a peaceful resolution to a brutal war that has lasted more than three weeks. While Turkey is a member of NATO, Mr. Erdogan has good relations with Mr. Putin, despite the Russian leader’s antipathy toward the Western military alliance of 30 nations.
