Three people were killed and six others injured during a shooting at Oxford High School in a suburb north of Detroit, Michigan.

The suspected shooter – a 15-year-old student – was taken into custody without incident just five minutes after a flood of 911 calls were made at approximately 12:55 local time.

“Deputies confronted him, he had the weapon on him, they took him into custody,” Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said at a news conference.

A handgun and multiple clips were recovered. McCabe said the shooter’s motive was unclear and authorities believe he acted alone.

McCabe said the three fatalities were believed to be students and one teacher was among those that were injured. He did not release the name of the shooter or the victims.

“I’m shocked. It’s devastating,” said Tim Throne, the superintendent of Oxford Community Schools.

Following the shooting, students were evacuated to a nearby grocery store.

“We are still doing a secondary search of the school for any further victims,” McCabe said.
