CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky is cautioning those who are unvaccinated to skip traveling over the busy Labor Day weekend. This comes as the Delta variant continues to cause concern around the country:

“Given where we are with disease transmission right now, we would say that people need to take their own these risks into their own consideration as they think about traveling. First and foremost, if you are unvaccinated, we would recommend not traveling.”

Dr. Walensky added that “people who are fully vaccinated and wearing masks can travel.”

There has been an average of almost 130,000 new COVID cases each day over the last week with 11,500 hospitalizations per day. While that’s a slight decrease from the previous week, COVID deaths are up 2.3% during the same period with almost 900 deaths per day.
