CNN: Justice Dept. Releases Harrowing New Bodycam Footage From January 6 Attack
The Justice Department on Thursday released horrifying new police body camera footage from the January 6 assault on the US Capitol, after CNN and other outlets requested the tapes.
Nearly six months after the siege on our nation’s capitol, and we’re still seeing new examples of the danger the Capitol Police faced that day. Just-released video footage shows the moments when a retired NYPD cop attacked the officers trying to prevent the mob from storming the building.
Note that this video contains profanity.
NEW: Justice Dept. just released horrifying new footage from 1/6. Feds say this is ex-NYPD officer Thomas Webster (red jacket) wielding a flagpole, rushing at police & tackling a cop to the ground. DOJ released this after legal action by CNN and other outlets. (warning: explicit) pic.twitter.com/yf7DQQFMWr
