AP: Prosecutors: No charges for officer in Capitol riot shooting
Federal prosecutors will not charge a police officer who shot and killed a woman as she climbed through the broken part of a door during the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Investigators say no criminal charges will be filed against a Capitol Police Officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt during the Insurrection at the Capitol. Ashli Babbitt was an Air Force veteran who was part of the mob that stormed the building. She was shot after climbing through a broken door that leads into the Speaker’s Lobby.
DOJ closes investigation into shooting of Ashli Babbitt. No evidence found to establish that "the officer did not reasonably believe that it was necessary [to fire] in self-defense or in defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber,” government says. pic.twitter.com/SlKm4dmTRt
