Somehow Donald Trump has found a way to make the Roseanne reboot’s early success about him. At a rally today Donald Trump took credit for the big ratings the premiere episode brought in.

Donald Trump also personally called Roseanne Barr to compliment her on the show. Barr, a known Trump supporter says “it was a thrill to get a congratulatory phone call from The President.” But if Trump thinks the show is going to always treat him favorably he may want to do a little more research. Time magazines reports:
“Roseanne herself is a provocateur, and the fact that later she goes on to indicate sensitivity toward un-Trump-administration causes (her affection for a grandson who exhibits gender fluidity, for instance) just goes to show how illegibly scrambled politics have become.”
Time also notes that Barr turned the reigns of the show over to Sara Gilbert, her daughter on the show. Gilbert’s politics may be rather different than Barr’s. She is married to a woman and is known as an environmentalist.
