Video captured a DC police officer being pinned in a doorway by a mob back on January 6th. Now that officer, Daniel Hodges, is talking about what happened to him saying one of his attackers was “There’s a guy ripping my mask off and he was able to rip away my baton and beat me with it. He was practically foaming at the mouth. These people were true believers in the worst way… my arms were pinned so I couldn’t really defend myself.”
“The absolute zealotry of these people. They 100% believed that what they were doing is right, that they were the Patriots” -DC Metro police officer, Daniel Hodges, on the mob that crushed him in a doorway at the U.S. Capitol last week. #wcvb pic.twitter.com/5PkpBudZQh

The 32-year-old said the rioters seemed to think the police would be on their side:
“Some of them felt like we would be fast friends because so many of them have been vocal… They say things like, ‘Yeah, we’ve been supporting you through all this Black Lives Matter stuff, you should have our back’ and they felt entitled… They felt like they would just walk up there and tell us that they’re here to take back Congress and we would agree with them and we’d walk in hand in hand and just take over the nation. But obviously that’s not the case and it will never be the case.”
Hodges only suffered minor injuries and believes he may have a concussion, but a week later he says he is ready to return to work.
Another police officer, Michael Fanone, says rioters were stripping him of his gear. They were grabbing his badge, ammunition, and even his gun.
Chilling: @DCPoliceDept officer Michael Fanone said on CNN that rioters went for his gun, saying “Kill him with his own gun”.
He told CNN, “It was all about self preservation…I “appealed to their humanity…I just remember yelling out I have kids”
