A couple of Republican governors are now learning that Donald Trump is loyal to no one except himself. It wasn’t long ago that both Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey were key allies to the president. That was then, this is now. This week the current president has trashed both governors. Trump has repeatedly asked Kemp to “use his emergency powers” to “overrule” the election results in the Peach State. Kemp’s office told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that state law “prohibits the governor from interfering in the election.” But Trump wants Kemp to somehow go around the law saying, “The governor’s done nothing. He’s done absolutely nothing. I’m ashamed that I endorsed him.”

Then Monday, Trump turned his attention to Ducey.
Why is he rushing to put a Democrat in office, especially when so many horrible things concerning voter fraud are being revealed at the hearing going on right now. @OANN What is going on with @dougducey? Republicans will long remember! https://t.co/XILGaHcyw7

And Ducey is clearly over the president’s effort to meddle in the election. Just as Ducey was signing the papers to certify the election yesterday, he appeared to decline a call from Trump. Watch MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow break this down above.
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey literally declines a call from Trump while certifying results declaring Biden won the state. So delicious. https://t.co/zQblyh616K

Ducey also fired off nine tweets pointing out that his state has “some of the strongest election laws in the country.”
That’s the law. I’ve sworn an oath to uphold it, and I take my responsibility seriously. 9/9

Even in 2020, Brian Kemp and Doug Ducey going from ultimate villains for liberals to being on the receiving end of Trump's wrath is quite the plot twist. Time will only tell how all of this will affect their careers long-term: Ducey is term-limited but Kemp is up again in 2022 pic.twitter.com/5hFQjXIMuG
