This is right up there with Donald Trump’s bible stunt. Today the president briefly left Walter Reed Medical Center simply because he needed attention from some of his suppporters who were gathered outside the hospital.
Trump appeared to be wearing a mask as he waved to people who lined the street, some with Trump flags. There were reportedly at least two Secret Service agents in the SUV.

If @realDonaldTrump were my patient, in unstable condition + contagious illness, & he suddenly left the hospital to go for a car ride that endangers himself & others:
I'd call security to restrain him then perform a psychiatric evaluation to examine his decision-making capacity.

Many people say this joy ride wasn’t only unnecessary, but also reckless.

The members of the @SecretService presidential protective division do serve to risk their lives for the president.
But not in this frivolous way.
Trump is a deeply psychologically unwell man.
And he's a pathetic and complete disgrace. pic.twitter.com/P75M5hv84O

“This is not Ronald Regan waving from the window to reassure the American people. This was Michael Jackson holding a baby over the balcony recklessly. This was a bizarre publicity stunt that put others in danger.” – @brianstelter
