Here we go again. Donald Trump and friends are now trying to push a ridiculous and totally false lie that Senator Kamala Harris may not be eligible to be vice president. They are questioning whether she is a U.S. citizen. In actuality, there are no questions about this, she was born in Oakland, California. While we don’t want to give this much oxygen, it’s important to set the record straight from the beginning and that’s what Anderson Cooper set out to do Thursday night. The CNN host said the President of the United States “is now promoting a racist conspiracy theory about the nation’s first female black vice presidential candidate.” The New York Times reports:
Mr. Trump, speaking to reporters on Thursday, nevertheless pushed forward with the attack, reminiscent of the lie he perpetrated for years that President Barack Obama was born in Kenya.
“I heard it today that she doesn’t meet the requirements,” Mr. Trump said of Ms. Harris.
“I have no idea if that’s right,” he added. “I would have thought, I would have assumed, that the Democrats would have checked that out before she gets chosen to run for vice president.”
Here’s part of Cooper’s response:
“Just so we’re clear, Kamala Harris, like Barack Obama, was born in the United States, which makes her a citizen. She was born in Oakland, California. and just a short time ago, President Trump tried to fan the flames even more.”
Years after Trump pushed a conspiracy theory about Barack Obama, he's now "promoting a baseless, disproven, and racist conspiracy theory" about Kamala Harris.

Senator Bernie Sanders also joined Cooper saying:
This is so absurd. it’s just another racist lie. It’s an embarrassment to the people of our country. But what Trump is trying to do right now among many other things, is deflect attention away from the reality facing working people in this country. He wants us to talk about all of that stupid stuff.
Sanders also addressed the other way Trump is trying to disrupt the election, through the post office. Watch the full segment above.
