Longing for adoring crowds, Donald Trump heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for what will undoubtedly be the most selfish moments of the president’s 3+ years in office. He is about to put the health of thousands at risk only for the self-glorification of doing it, despite the pleadings of health officials.

Local leaders have begged him not to come. Reschedule, they say. Come back when Tulsa and Oklahoma aren’t spiking with coronavirus cases.

Oklahoma reported 450 cases on Thursday, blowing past the record set the day before.

But those numbers could be minuscule compared to what happens after today when thousands cram into an indoor arena. Health officials worry the Trump rally could become a super-spreader event because nowhere in America has there been this many people packed this closely together in months. What could go wrong?

It would help if everyone attending wore masks. But in Trumpworld, face coverings are now associated with a loss of freedom instead of a loss of life. Not wearing one kind of goes with the whole selfish theme.

“Frankly, I’m afraid for a lot of people. It hurts my heart that we know this is a possibility and we’re doing it anyway. It’s like seeing the train wreck coming.” – Bruce Dart, Tulsa Health Dept.

This is not just dangerous for the people of Tulsa, but for the thousands of others who’ll return home to other parts of the country, potentially infected.

Honestly, does Donald Trump care a whit about anyone but the the guy in his mirror? The answer is obvious.
