Senator Elizabeth Warren is now among the Americans who have lost a relative to coronavirus. Her oldest brother, Don Reed Herring, passed away on Tuesday. That was reportedly three weeks after he tested positive for coronavirus. Warren said:
My oldest brother, Don Reed, died from coronavirus on Tuesday evening. He joined the Air Force at 19 and spent his career in the military, including five and a half years off and on in combat in Vietnam. He was charming and funny, a natural leader.
Reed was 86-years-old. The Boston Globe writes:
Herring was moved to intensive care at Norman Regional Hospital on April 15 and died six days later. He was not on a ventilator.
The coronavirus has separated people around the country from loved ones fighting the illness, and that was no different for Warren’s family. Herring’s wife was unable to visit him in recent weeks. Warren spoke with him daily before he was transferred to the hospital, but that became more difficult to do as he grew sicker. She last spoke with him on Sunday, when he seemed to be doing better.
